Think Pink

When Steve and I registered for our wedding, I couldn't resist choosing a pink rolling pin. Kitchen Aid carries a line of cute pink stuff but I thought it wouldn't be quite fair to Steve if I overloaded the kitchen in pink. I love baking and when my grandma bought me the rolling pin, I couldn't wait to use it. Well, almost a year after our wedding, I finally used it. What did I bake? Nothing. I can't believe I went through a whole Christmas season without baking shortbread or sugar cookies. I guess that's the result of letting us teachers out only two days before Christmas. So what did I use it for? For pounding the crap out of pork to make schnitzel. Not what I imagined I'd do with my adorable pink accessory (and yes, it truly is an accessory). Oh well, at least it finally got used.
ps. report cards just got finished! Hallelujah. My social life can return.

My dear mother in law passed down her rolling pin that her mother had given to her. Have I used it to bake glorious pies? Only once. The rest of the time I have used it to crush almonds, flatten chicken, all of the things that I am sure it WASN'T made for!
