hawaii
Our friend gave us a book about the Big Island when we arrived and it was a great way to find out all the tourist attractions. The reason why we loved the book though was because it listed many off the beaten track places. We also had some recommendations from Jonathon and Elise who went to Hawaii on their honeymoon. One place we really wanted to visit was Kiholo Bay.
We drove our car as far as we could down the beach (almost got stuck), and then walked along the ocean to our destination. Along our way we passed about 5 summer homes. One is owned by Paul Mitchell (hair products) and the yellow mansion is owned by the man who invented the pace maker. Amazing location!
Kiholo Bay is an incredibly beautiful inlet. The two colours of water show where the ocean meets fresh water. Sea turtles LOVE it here and we saw many of them. One swam right into me when we were snorkeling and wouldn't leave Steve or I for quite some time. Most of the turtles were found basking in the sun. This beach was very secluded and we'd highly suggest going there if you're in Hawaii.
